The couple hired
an adventure photographer, Charleton Churchill for their wedding. The
photographer had attempted the wedding
on Mount Everest back in 2015 with another couple but, the devastating
earthquake ruined the plan. Charleton was the one who gave this unique wedding idea to the couple which, they agreed upon immediately.
Journey to the
Mt. Everest has never proved easy for anyone and it stands the same for the
couple and the Churchill but, Ashley and James both were tough enough to take
this fierce journey with a smile on their faces. They really managed well in -8
degree to 10 degrees Fahrenheit temperature and pressure and lack of resources
until James suffered from a bad case of “Khumbu cough”. The altitude finally
started taking toll on their bodies despite weeks of training and preparation.
James almost
suffocated himself due to high altitude just the night before they were
supposed to reach the Everest Base camp at 16942 feet height. The guide and
Sherpa accompanying them hooked oxygen mask to James to relieve him from the
suffering. For the remainder of the night, James slept with oxygen mask on.
This incident
led Churchill and couple to settle that they are not going any further and they
will drop their plan. The decision was to fly out and not attempt to trek
further. However, James felt better when
he woke up next morning. After little bit of discussion, the couple decided to
take a chance and solemnize their wedding at the base camp of Mt. Everest.
After all, wedding on Mount Everest
